A GAL + A First Case

A GAL + A First Case

I am a GAL and one of my first cases was a four year old girl. The little girl was born to a young mother and had been in the care of her grandmother for the majority of her life.  Then, mother was determined to regain custody of her daughter.

It took two years, numerous phone calls, and lots of hand-holding before the mother finally agreed to release her daughter for adoption.  The mother finally realized that it was in her daughter’s best interest to be with the grandmother. By having her own mother adopt her daughter, she could remain in her daughter's life.

The grandmother still keeps in touch and that little girl is doing very well and growing more beautiful every day.
