Wellington Landings Middle Gators Raise Awareness with CAP Posters, Pinwheels, and "Gator Chat"

A huge thank you to Frankie Spalla, chapter sponsor of the Wellington Landings Middle Gators chapter of STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, for leading an impactful Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) awareness campaign.

Through a combination of CAP posters, a pinwheel display, and a school-wide "Gator Chat" presentation, the chapter reached about 1,300 students with important information about child advocacy and abuse prevention. The “Gator Chat” presentation aired on the school announcements, ensuring that every student had access to crucial education about child safety, awareness, and support resources.

Why This Matters

Education is one of the most powerful tools in preventing child abuse. By bringing awareness to the entire school, this initiative helped students recognize the importance of safe environments, trusted support systems, and speaking up for themselves and others. The CAP posters and pinwheel display reinforced the message visually, serving as a daily reminder that every child deserves to be safe and supported.

How You Can Help

At STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, we believe that every voice matters when it comes to child protection. Here’s how you can make a difference:

  • Learn the signs of child abuse and how to report concerns.

  • Encourage schools to include awareness initiatives in their programs.

  • Join or start a chapter to educate and advocate for child safety.

Thank you to Frankie Spalla and the Wellington Landings Middle Gators Chapter for taking the lead in educating and empowering students to make a difference.
