Foster Care Awareness Day
Same School. Different Story.
Foster Care Awareness Day is a student-led initiative helping students better understand foster care and recognize that someone sitting beside them may be navigating a story they know nothing about.
-

Born From Experience
Inspired by Maddie’s own experience in foster care, the project turns one student’s story into greater understanding, kindness and inclusion for others.
-

Built for Schools
Through age-appropriate videos, activities, conversation and wearing blue, schools can create awareness without identifying or singling out students in foster care.
-

Small Act. Big Impact.
A kind word. An invitation. Including someone. Speaking up. Small actions can help another student feel seen, valued and included.
From One Story to Schoolwide Awareness
The Idea
Inspired by her own foster care experience, Maddie wanted students to better understand what a classmate may be going through.
The Learning
Simple, age-appropriate education helps students understand foster care while encouraging kindness, inclusion and support.
