What is Community Service?

Community service hours are volunteer hours that you complete to graduate from high school.

Additionally, if you go to college, many institutions require a certain number of community service hours.

Community Service Opportunities

Students Speak up for Kids

  • As you look for ways to get community service hours, we want to invite you to volunteer with us!

  • Volunteering for Students Speak up for Kids gives you the chance to help kids like you, who are going through experiences and situations that you have gone through as well. It is a wonderful way to support and give back to your community.

  • If you would like to volunteer with Students Speak Up for Kids (SSUFK), here’s how you do it:

    • If your school has a chapter of SSUFK, you can join and volunteer with fellow classmates.

    • If your school doesn’t have a chapter, you can apply to start one on the SSUFK website (see below).

    • Go to STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, scroll down, and choose whichever opportunity seems the most exciting for you, and hit the button below it to get started! After that, there are step-by-step guides on how to create an account and to move forward from there.

  • Find out more about volunteering at the center here.

Feeding South Florida

  • Volunteering with Feeding South Florida is a great way to help in the preparation, organization, and distribution of food to help people in the community who are in need.

  • See volunteer opportunities here.

School Clubs

  • If you are in high school or college, there are a number of clubs and ways that you can find service opportunities through your school.

  • During the beginning of the school year, check out what clubs might help connect you to community service.

Final Thoughts

No matter what your passions or interests are—whether it’s helping kids, caring for animals, reading books, or feeding families in need—there’s a community service opportunity out there for you. Giving back doesn’t just help others; it also helps you grow, connect, and discover what truly matters to you. When you volunteer, you’re making your community stronger—and becoming a part of something bigger than yourself. So take that first step, find what speaks to your heart, and start making a difference today. You have more power to change the world than you think.
