Music Buddies Is an Amazing Program: Dreyfoos Student Leads Continued Effort to Inspire Foster Youth Through Music

West Palm Beach, FL – March 2025 – Speak Up for Kids is proud to continue its impactful Music Buddies Program through STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, a student-powered initiative that brings music, mentorship, and healing to children in foster care. First launched in 2022 by student co-leaders Anden Toale and Jocelyn Spellman, the program has flourished under the leadership of Noah Kriegstein, a senior music major at Dreyfoos School of the Arts.

Since joining the program in 2022 as an instructor, Noah Kriegstein has brought passion and heart to Music Buddies. Now serving as Student Coordinator, Noah - a talented pianist, drummer, and singer - leads the effort to make music a source of connection, joy, and confidence for young participants. Through virtual music lessons, Noah and fellow volunteers from high schools throughout Palm Beach County help children in foster care explore rhythm, creativity, and self-expression in a fun, supportive environment.

“Music is a form of connection that goes beyond words,” said Noah Kriegstein. “Through this program, we hope to spark joy, build trust, and give every child a chance to feel seen, heard, and celebrated.”

Families involved in Music Buddies consistently praise the program’s emotional impact.

“Music Buddies is an amazing program! Our adopted daughter has been receiving guitar lessons for the past three years, and it has helped her tremendously in managing her trauma. She absolutely loves her teacher, and we are so grateful for everything this program has done for our family. Thank you!” – Grateful Parent.

"Being a Music Buddies teacher was such a rewarding experience! I loved how the program provides everything students need—books, a piano, and a supportive learning environment. Watching William pick up songs and notes so quickly was amazing—I know he has a bright future in music! Such a fantastic program!" – Missoni, Student Teacher.

The Music Buddies Program reflects Speak Up for Kids' mission to support children in foster care through advocacy, enrichment, and mentorship opportunities. With Noah’s leadership and continued student engagement through STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, the program continues to offer life-changing experiences through the power of music.

“We’re incredibly proud of Noah’s dedication,” said Coleen LaCosta, Executive Director of Speak Up for Kids. “He’s building on Anden and Jocelyn’s legacy and helping Music Buddies grow into something truly extraordinary.”
