Maryam Alrekabi Shines a Light on Foster Care Through Education and Advocacy

A huge thank you to Maryam Alrekabi for making a meaningful impact by educating students about the foster care system through her Foster Care Awareness Presentation and Video.

Maryam led an educational session where 16 students participated and shared that they gained a deeper understanding of the foster care system after her presentation. She also created an awareness video, which has already received 57 views on Instagram, helping to spread knowledge beyond the classroom.

In addition to her advocacy efforts, Maryam also handmade 41 birthday cards for foster children, ensuring that kids in care feel remembered and celebrated on their special day. These thoughtful gestures help create a sense of belonging and support for children who may not always have the opportunity to experience a traditional birthday celebration.

Why This Matters

Many people don’t realize the challenges foster children face or the importance of community support. By taking the initiative to educate others and raise awareness, Maryam has helped spark important conversations about foster care, advocacy, and how students can make a difference.

How You Can Help

At STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, we believe that education and awareness are key to creating change. Here’s how you can get involved:
