Honoring a Lifetime of Advocacy: Commissioner Gregg Weiss

Commissioner Gregg Weiss and Rebecca Weiss

At Speak Up for Kids, we are privileged to work alongside individuals who lead with vision, heart, and an unwavering commitment to children. At our Gala, we were proud to honor one such leader — Commissioner Gregg Weiss — with our Lifetime of Advocacy Award.

Commissioner Weiss is more than a public servant; he is a founding force behind Speak Up for Kids of Palm Beach County. In 2008, seeing a critical gap in advocacy for abused, abandoned, and neglected children, Gregg co-founded the organization to ensure that every child in the foster care system would have a voice through the Guardian ad Litem program. What began as a grassroots, volunteer-led initiative quickly evolved into a thriving nonprofit under Gregg’s steady leadership.

One of Gregg’s most transformative decisions was the hiring of Speak Up for Kids' first Executive Director in 2017 — a move that catalyzed a new era of growth, professionalization, and programmatic impact. His foresight paved the way for expanded services, deeper community engagement, and a stronger foundation for long-term sustainability.

But Gregg's dedication extends far beyond our organization. Since his election as a Palm Beach County Commissioner in 2018, he has continued to champion causes that matter deeply — from affordable housing and mental health services to economic development and environmental stewardship. In every role he assumes, his focus remains steadfast: serving the most vulnerable among us with compassion and integrity.

Because of Commissioner Weiss, thousands of children in Palm Beach County have been seen, heard, and supported. His legacy is not just one of advocacy — it is one of transformation. Families are stronger, communities are more connected, and our collective future is brighter because of his tireless work.

We are honored to recognize Commissioner Gregg Weiss as the recipient of our Lifetime of Advocacy Award. His enduring leadership has left an indelible mark on our mission and in the lives of countless children.

Thank you, Commissioner Weiss, for being a true champion for children and families.
