Spanish River Sharks Take a Stand for Child Abuse Prevention with Pinwheel Garden
A big thank you to Sofia Scher and the Spanish River Sharks Chapter of STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids for their impactful efforts in raising awareness about Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) through a Pinwheel Garden and Chapter Meeting.
During their meeting, 40 members gathered to discuss the importance of child advocacy and ways to support prevention efforts. To expand their impact beyond the meeting, they placed pinwheels at the school’s entry and exit points, ensuring that as many students and staff as possible were reminded of the importance of child abuse prevention. By incorporating a highly visible display, the chapter hopes to have reached the majority of the school, sparking conversations and increasing awareness.
Why This Matters
Pinwheels serve as a national symbol for child abuse prevention, representing the hope, resilience, and bright futures that every child deserves. By placing pinwheels in high-traffic areas, the Spanish River Sharks helped spread awareness and encourage their school community to think about how they can support child safety and advocacy.
