Graduation Despite the Odds For Foster Children in Palm Beach County, FL
Foster children have so many odds stacked against them, which is why only about 50% of foster children end up graduating from high school. These children don’t experience much normalcy or stability in their lives. This instability severely affects their abilities to keep up with the other students at school. Oftentimes, foster children must change schools, which increases their risk of dropping out.
What foster children need is love and support in any form. Our Guardian ad Litems make sure no neglected child in Palm Beach County falls through the cracks of the legal system. We also have student-led advocacy programs to help their peers in need. Through all of our efforts, we have helped children find normalcy, grow, and overcome their obstacles. This year, we are happy to announce that we have nearly 50 high school graduates to celebrate in Palm Beach County. Despite all of the odds stacked against them, they will walk at graduation and receive their diploma.
2021 Graduation Celebration
Unfortunately, these students often don’t receive any family support. That’s where we come in. Speak Up for Kids creates a community supporting them in their achievements. You can be a part of their success story.
The children’s 2021 Graduation Celebration is kicking off with the Celebrating YOUth Scholarship, which will award $500 to five deserving high school graduates in the foster care system. Each graduate is a living symbol of hope and empowerment for foster children to break their cycles of neglect and abuse.
