Overview

Beauty trends never get old and from Ulta to Sephora and all the drug stores in between, shelves are lined with the latest and greatest products. But which ones should you buy and why? What key ingredients should they have? I have answers! Check out 4 must have products that give you healthy, glowing skin.

Cleanser

We’ve all received advice to wash our face in the morning, but with what? A cleanser’s ultimate job is to get rid of all the oil, sweat, mixtures of dirt, and dead skin cells off your face. Due to those contributing factors, it is important to wash your face in the morning and at night because the morning cleanse takes care of the overnight buildup of oil and the night cleanse helps with dirt, makeup, or pollutants that have collected on your face.

When you’re searching for amazing cleansers, look for these key ingredients:

  • Ceramides

  • Salicylic Acid

  • Vitamin C

  • Glycerin

  • Hyaluronic Acid

Toner

Toner is the underrated step in most people’s skincare routines. People tend to forget that toner is essentially the primer or base for the skincare routine; toner activates all your other products and hydrates your skin at the same time. Toners are also known for detoxing pores, balancing pH levels, and replenishing the skin. Your skin loves a good replenishment in the morning, so that’s the ideal time to apply toner. You can apply it with a cotton pad or pat your skin gently with your clean hands.

Here are things to be on the lookout for in your toners:

  • Niacimide

  • Rose Water

  • Lactic Acid

  • Glycolic Acid

  • Kojic Acid

Serum

It's time to add some liquid goodness to your skin care routine. If you’re looking to amplify your glow, prevent fine lines and wrinkles, or quench the thirst of your dry skin, use a serum to address all your skin care needs. Serums bring many benefits to the skin care table, such as infusing hydration into the skin, getting rid of hyperpigmentation, and minimizing pores! With these benefits, make sure to match your skin type to the product. Match your serum with your skin type below.

Oily Skin:

  • Niacidimide

  • Salicylic Acid

Dry Skin:

  • Hyaluronic Acid

  • Niacinamide

Combination Skin:

  • Gel-Based Serum

  • Panthenol

  • Aloe Vera

Moisturizer

Ok guys, it’s time to seal the deal with some good old-fashioned moisturizer. Moisturizer is necessary, no matter your skin type. Research reveals we should moisturize day and night. Experts say we should use a moisturizer during the day that includes SPF (sun protection factor), specifically SPF 30. SPF is critical because it protects your skin from the harmful radiation from the sun. Once you’ve protected your skin in the daytime, it's time to use a thicker moisturizer at night, preferably a cream. Moisturizer is supposed to penetrate and repair your skin while you’re sleeping. Remember that moisturizing is the last step. Apply it after your serum and wait at least 2 minutes to do so to give your serum time to be absorbed into your skin. The secret to a good moisturizer is finding one that is extremely moisturizing. It’s extremely simple; just look at the ingredients listed below, and grab your must-haves for a healthy, beautiful glow!

Morning:

  • Sunscreen

  • Vitamin C

  • Ceramides

Night:

  • Retinols

  • Hyaluronic Acid

  • Vitamin E
