FAU University STUDENTS Spread Love and Support: Owls Chapter Delivers 100+ Heart Notes to Foster Youth

Why It Matters

For many youth in foster care, consistent encouragement and emotional support can be just as important as physical resources, especially during holidays centered around connection and care.

By creating over 100 personalized notes and collecting chocolate donations, FAU students helped foster youth feel valued, supported, and encouraged—while also spreading awareness to over 100 members of their community.

Ella James shared that this experience reinforced the importance of caring for others, especially those who may need it most. One of the most meaningful takeaways was recognizing how much inspiration and encouragement foster youth need, and how even small gestures can help them keep going.

Students also reflected on how these efforts help foster youth feel loved, emphasizing that community service is not just about giving, but about connection.

How to Get Involved

Looking for high school volunteer opportunities, college initiatives, or virtual community service?

Here’s how you can help foster kids:

  • Join or start a STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids chapter at your school or university

  • Organize encouragement-based projects like card-making or care packages

  • Participate in student community service projects that combine awareness and action

  • Use social media and campus outreach to expand your impact

Kindness doesn’t have to be complicated. A note, a small donation, or your time can remind someone they are not alone.

Take action today, your words and effort can make a real difference.
