Students Speak Up for Kids in Palm Beach County, FL
Students Speak Up for Kids is an advocacy program in Palm Beach County, FL. The organization strives to give foster kids the comfort, care, and support they so desperately need during difficult times. One of the best ways to connect community helpers with the needy among them is through a kids-help-kids focus, which is how Students Speak Up For Kids emerged.
Many foster children experience the traumas of abuse, neglect, and abandonment that compound their lack of basic needs. New clothing, access to suitcases, and even birthday wishes feel like luxuries to many of these children in Florida. Speak Up For Kids wants to change that, and we work with Florida’s Guardian ad Litem advocates and the Student Speak Up For Kids program to reach out to young people in the community.
Great Things Happen When Kids Help Kids
The Students Speak Up for Kids program encourages all students to break the cycle of trauma for foster kids in our country, whether these students are in elementary, middle school, high school, or college. Advocates help in various ways, from creating birthday cards and messages for foster children to putting together original written and video content to raise awareness of the program’s needs.
The compassionate team also organizes donation drives. Their collection programs provide the foster kids with the necessary items for school and daily life, including:
· Gently-used clothing and shoes
· Suitcases and other luggage
· Quilts and blankets
· School supplies
· Holiday toys and gifts
· Stuffed animals
The program encourages its student members to brainstorm new ideas, empowering them to find new ways to help the kids in their communities.
Students Speak Up for Kids is impacting these children’s lives in incredible ways.
