EqualChance Finance: Because Every Child Deserves A Chance
Contributed by Jack Feuerberg - a Students Speak Up for Kids volunteer.
The Mission
EqualChance Finance was created to provide children with the opportunity to learn the financial fundamentals necessary for success in today’s society. Regardless of background, EqualChance Finance offers a learning experience that enables kids to build a solid financial foundation, develop financial confidence, and foster independence. Through learn-by-doing workshops and interactive presentations, the younger generation is prepared for the future financial world. Driven by a passion for finance and a deep commitment to helping the next generation, EqualChance Finance works to break down financial barriers for all children.
The following workshops continue this mission by targeting elementary-aged students. These workshops will introduce financial topics such as saving, spending, and giving. Students also begin learning how to manage their own money, including foundational skills like creating a simple budget. Through these workshops, children will begin to establish a solid financial foundation that they will utilize for years to come.
The Workshops
Workshop 1: The Basics of Saving, Spending, and Giving - An introduction to the importance of savings, along with an introduction to the concept of banking.
Workshop 2: Needs vs. Wants - Understanding the difference between needs and wants, along with how to create a budget.
Workshop 3: Story Coins - Allows children to see how financial decisions lead to real consequences in real-time.
